You’ve probably heard by now that the Supreme Court has allowed Texas to just ignore the federal law on abortions, so Texas can ban abortion as they see fit. Well, that sets a precedent for allowing any state to just ignore federal laws too. Other than the looming threat on marriage equality, there’s another “threat.” And that is legislation for effective and common sense gun control.
… if states can now shield their laws from review by the federal courts that compare assault weapons to Swiss Army knives, then California will use that authority to protect people’s lives, where Texas used it to put women in harm’s way.

If states can do whatever they want, Supreme Court, then expect every state to do so. California will do this to protect lives. A bigger play is that when progressive states start to pass their own legislation that seemingly overrides federal law, then the Supreme Court must again act. Logically, they would redo their joke of a decision on Texas’s abortion ban, and thus stop every state from going on a free for all for passing laws as they see fit. If not, the U.S.A will start to resemble two different countries, just like in the 1861 Civil War. States’ rights, huh? What a scary thought.
