State of California wins big!

Congratulations, Morro Bay! This lucky city in San Luis Obispo county gained a lucky retailer when the $699.8 MILLION Powerball® jackpot ticket was purchased from Albertsons on Quintana Rd. This jackpot ranks as the 5th largest for the Powerball game, the 7th largest in U.S. Lottery history, and the first Powerball jackpot won on the new Monday draw day.

This Powerball jackpot sequence began at $20 million on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 and rolled an unprecedented 41 times to a final jackpot of $699.8 million for Monday’s draw. The Lottery’s contribution to public education from this entire Powerball sequence is estimated to be more than $78 million. With support from players like you, California Lottery® has contributed over $39 billion to public education since our first game was sold 36 years ago.

Our retailer partners have been winners in this Powerball sequence as well, earning an estimated $12.5 million combined for selling Powerball tickets for all 41 draws, cashing the associated winning tickets, and receiving incentive bonuses for selling tickets worth $1M or more.

Thanks to our players for supporting California public schools and local retailers with every purchase.
